Tiffany, I have heard that Ohio University has an undergraduate degree for Forensic Chemistry, but you are right... it isn't related to fingerprint examination. Additionally, Youngstown State has a general forensic degree that might have a fingerprinting course, but the entire undergraduate program isn't geared toward fingerprints. The best way to obtain fingerprint training is to be hired as a trainee with a law enforcement agency or criminal justice information system AFIS, and to receive training and on the job experience in fingerprints. Hope this helps, and good luck. |

St. Petersburg College in St. Pete, FL offers a Certificate and Associates Degree in Crime Scene Technology. Included in this coursework is a Fingerprint Classification course. It can help prepare you for ten-print work. Check out the program's website: http://www.spcollege.edu/AC/CrSc/ All of the courses are available online, so you don't have to live in the area to get the degree. |

Danielle, if you are looking for school, I think you need to be looking under Forensic Science or Criminal Justice. Here is a link to Criminal Justice schools, http://www.guidetocriminaljusticeschools.com/forensic.html?source=google_gtcj_forensic&input_program=310. Check out the college or university in your area. If you are looking for a job as a Fingerprint Technician check out the police departments, sheriff's offices; county, city, and state jobs where you live. For example, I applied for an entry level technician position at the department of public safety for my state and got the job. I do not have a degree and I was previously doing administrative work. Check out the International Association for Identification jobs pages and see who is hiring for related jobs, http://www.theiai.org/jobs/. They also have a training and certification links. |
