in england there was a stated case in 1909. R V Castleton at the court of criminal appeal. In dismissing the case the Lord Chief Justice stated that. " The court may accept evidence of fingerprints though it be the sole ground of identification"

Jennings (People vs. Jennings, Illinois, 1910)
The first State Supreme Court case to uphold the admissibility
of fingerprint evidence. Dec. 21, 1911, The Illinois State Supreme
Court upheld the admissibility of fingerprint evidence concluding
that fingerprints are a reliable form of identification.
