The word latent means not visible or not readily seen. The term latent print is also used when someone refers to fingerprints left at the scene of a crime. I think what you are referring to is someone in the field of latent print identification. That is to say someone who examines evidence for hidden fingerprints and/or makes comparisons of those prints found with the inked or known prints of individuals in order to establish a positive identification.
By latent fingerprinting you may also be referring to the actual processing of an item or area such as a house, car, etc., to determine if "fingerprint evidence" is present.
Processing takes many forms depending on the surface being examined.
