i would like to know if fingerprints can tell a person gender, race or origin. can patterns tell any of this. I am a 7th grade student doing a science project

Not sure of your direction. Fingerprints are unique and because of that they can be used for identifying people. It is fairly simple procedure and most definitely effective.
There are many books available through retail outlets that can give you more understanding and direct you to individual studies.
You have posted this inquiry twice and it must be important to you, but not sure of the nature of your query. Perhaps something more specific?

this may seem like a stupid question, but here goes... i understand that fingerprints are unique to everyone, so is this attribute the reason why fingerprinting has been accepted as a very unique way of identifying people? or, critically speaking, are there other reasons of fingerprinting that make it so simple and effective?
could u by chance direct me to some case studies or reports also, that help me with my query...? thanks so much!!
