If you burn (melt) part of a rubber name stamp, the damage becomes a permanent part of any future impressions you make with that stamp. Fingerprints are somewhat similar. If the burn is on the friction ridge skin of a finger, and if the burn damages the dermal layer of skin, then it creates a permanent scar that is a part of future impressions. If, however, the burn only creates a blister and does not damage the dermal layer of skin, the burn will often cause no permanent change (though the blister or its remnants may be represented in impressions for the next 30 days or so... until the epidermis is sloughed off and new skin replaces it). | ||
