Scientifically/technically, anything is possible... there may be eight-legged mice on Venus. In the real world we live in, public outrage at such an idea would prohibit implementation. If moral acceptability were not a problem, the friction-ridge sampling rate of existing AFIS live scan technology presents a problem (less of a problem for card scan, though recording legible friction ridge inked prints from newborns is difficult under the best of circumstances). Capturing DNA from infants would be an easier task (and just as morally unacceptable to most folks). | ||

So technically, if everyone (in the US) was fingerprinted when born, then the information put in a database, we could identify criminals or jane/john doe's? Would major reconfiguring have to be done to make up for the size of the print to make a match? |
