I am looking for information concerning fingerprints and the use of AFIS style machines (preferably desk top models)that would help support the idea that agencies need a local AFIS machine (PC based). I am writing a white paper for a Command College course (in Texas) and I would like to show an even bigger benfit when the local system/prints are used in conjunction with a Universal Latent Workstation. I figure I would change this somewhat but I have to start somewhere. My work e-mail address is csweeney@hendersontx.us. I currently work for the Henderson Police Department in Texas and I supervise 5 detectives.

I was wondering if there were any statistics on the success rate of the different chemical techniques in developing the latent fingerprints, for example ninhydrin, DFO, superglueing or physical developer?

I really need help on this with my Research project,

Thaning you in anticipation

Mr. Fazio,

Your hotmail e-mail address (ronfazio321@hotmail.com) may not instill in fingerprint experts the desire to send you "verifiable information." What is your agency e-mail address... lest we think that we are just helping you with a homework assignment?

Does anyone have any sources or information on the percentage of cases solved or assisted by fingerprinting? Nationwide would be great, but I'd appreciate any information.

I really need a verifiable source. I'm justifing a FP section.

Many thanks.
