I have used a hairdryer on the rear side and developed a reversed print with ninhydrin - must have been a fair bit of residue on the stamp when it was affixed to the envelope (before 1,2 indanedione days)

I am looking to remove stamps and open sealed envelopes to fingerprint the underside. If no identifiable prints are located, then I want to send it off for DNA analysis.
Steaming can degrade DNA, soaking can dilute it, so my question is - how do you remove stamps or open envelopes without damaging possible prints, or degrading potential DNA.
thank-you for any help
